Mine productivity is an outcome of interacting machines, people, delays and operating rules. This project uses simulation to make those interactions visible and to test changes before they are made underground.
The research combines multiple mine case studies with a platinum-production model, including a detailed Bathopele case developed with Sibanye-Stillwater.
Big ideas, a little mystery. We respect our students’ privacy while sharing their research. Until they choose to introduce themselves, we use illustrated avatars and purely fictional names, and keep their real names, faces and contact details private.
